Whimsical Whimster

Posted on 11. Apr, 2011 by in dogs, pet art

I was excited when I saw these dogs by London sculptor Sue Whimster. Not only are they very clever, but they are life size! I saw them on one of my fave places to visit – EdwynUK, then, delving even more, I found these pictures of her workshop. Just looking at the workspace makes me wish that I had a little ‘escape’ where I could spend a rainy afternoon with pot full of clay and a head full of ideas. Anyway, back to the real world – Sue’s work is sold and exhibited throughout the UK and I believe you can even have a ceramic made of your dog! Take a peek inside her workshop below and see all the dogs sitting on the shelves.

I love how comical, but not grossly so, Sue’s sculptures are. Her glazing work is impeccable. You can almost see this light and life behind the dogs’ eyes, especially the pug’s. Very cool!

I know, she’s captured the faces so well. You can almost see the tails wag too!
